Phase evolution and sinterability of lanthanum phosphate – Towards a below 600 °C Spark Plasma Sintering

چکیده

Lanthanum phosphate, due to its interesting thermal and mechanical properties is a widely studied material for refractory applications. Sintering processes have already been proposed densify this drive microstructure. Inspired by recent progress on low temperature sintering, we investigate Spark Plasma (LowT-SPS) using hydrated precursor. First, lanthanum phosphate behaviour was TGA/DTA XRD analysis various heat-treated powders. Their SPS were explored in situ dilatometry measurements. As precursor showed densification, samples sintered at temperatures from 160 °C 350 under 400 MPa. Even if dense nano-scaled microstructures obtained, residual hydration observed. Finally, well densified fine-grained monazite type obtained 550 200 Its are then compared conventional Sintered materials.

Spark plasma sintering of Mn-Al-C hard magnets.

Structural and magnetic characterization of isotropic Mn-Al-C bulk samples obtained by spark plasma sintering (SPS) is reported. This technique, to the best of our knowledge, has not been used for preparation of Mn-Al-based permanent magnets previously. Transformation from the parent -phase to the ferromagnetic τ-phase occurred on heating in the process of sintering. The phase constitution of t...

Synthesis and Thermoelectric Properties of Copper Sulfides via Solution Phase Methods and Spark Plasma Sintering

Large-scale Cu2S tetradecahedrons microcrystals and sheet-like Cu2S nanocrystals were synthesized by employing a hydrothermal synthesis (HS) method and wet chemistry method (WCM), respectively. The morphology of α-Cu2S powders prepared by the HS method is a tetradecahedron with the size of 1–7 μm. The morphology of β-Cu2S is a hexagonal sheet-like structure with a thickness of 5–20 nm. The resu...

Simulation of thermal and electric field evolution during spark plasma sintering

Finite element simulations have been conducted to determine the temperature distribution (both in radial and axial direction), heat and electric flux-field in the powder compact/die/punch assembly during the spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. A thermal–electrical coupled model with temperature dependent thermal and electrical properties is implemented. The simulation studies were conducted u...

Fabrication of Nanostructured Cu matrix Nanocomposites by High Energy Mechanical Milling and Spark Plasma Sintering

Spark plasma sintering (SPS) is a sintering process that is capable of sintering hard worked powders in short times. This technique was used to fabricate bulk Cu and Cu-SiC nanocomposites. Pure Cu and mixed powders of Cu including 4 vol% of SiC nanoparticles were mechanically alloyed for 25 h and sintered at 750˚C under vacuum condition by SPS method. Microstructures of the materials were chara...
